Alloa 1 v 0 Stirling Albion (46 images)
After a fourteen day break from Division Two fare it was back to the bread and butter this weekend as Stirling faced Alloa in the first derby of the season. With the sides neck and neck at the top of the table the chance was there for both sides to break clear from their local rivals. Last time the sides met on the Recreation Park plastic the Beanos won a five goal thriller but a much tighter match look on the cards this afternoon. So it proved as one bad mistake in defence saw Stirling defeated despite dominating for long spells. With sun shining down the Alloa plastic pitch looked even more plastic than normal and some lively bounces made control difficult at times. Stirling made a good start but one long punt up the field from the hosts and the Beanos were behind. Alloa seemed content to sit on their advantage which meant the Albion had plenty of possession. However, some slack play in the final third combined with plenty of committed Alloa defending meant that Allan Moore's men simply couldn't break the Wasps down. Disappointing result but no lack of effort and if we can just get more clinical in the opposition box then we won't be far away come the end of the season.
