Arbroath 2 v 4 Stirling Albion (61 images)
Stirling faced the first of four games in eight days as they headed North to take on Arbroath at Gayfield Park. The teams meet again at Forthbank on Monday night and Allan Moore will be demanding nothing less than a double over the Smokies. The first encounter at Gayfield was a see-saw affair in which the Beanos threw away a three goal lead only to snatch a winner in the dying seconds. A slightly less heart stopping win would probably have suited the travelling faithful who made their way to Angus. However, as we know the Albion tend not to do it the easy way and so it proved again this afternoon.
A quick start from the visitors was rewarded when Andy Gibson nodded in a David O'Brien centre to put Stirling one up. A daft hand ball right on half-time by Andy Graham gifted the hosts a penalty and Kenny McLean didn't miss. For a period in the second half it looked to be going pear shaped as Aberdeen loanee Mitch Megginson poked the home side ahead. The Beanos though responded quickly as a Chris Aitken penalty levelled the scores. Iain Russell then set up Andy Graham to edge Stirling ahead before a fantastic solo goal from the on-loan Morton man sealed the points for Allan Moore's side.
