Stranraer 1 v Stirling Albion 0 (67 images)
Stirling headed to the South West of Scotland this afternoon to face old foes Stranraer at Stair Park. Allan Moore's side are of course still searching for their first win in a competitive fixture in 2008/09, and with the Blues also still to get their opening victory, today was a chance for both sides to get their seasons up and running. Over recent years Stirling have had a fairly decent record at Stair Park and on their last visit scored six without reply in Scottish Cup action. Sadly today's encounter wasn't as memorable for the travelling Albion fans.
Once again Stirling were without any new signings and it showed. Right from the off the Beanos were second to everything as the home side looked a step quicker all over the park. Other than a denied penalty shout Stirling offered very little in the final third of the pitch. With the rain teeming down it looked as if Stranraer's second half pressure may not pay off. However, a Gregory Tade header three minutes from time earned the home side a deserved win over the Beanos. To be perfectly blunt Stirling were a shambles and the pressure is now building on Allan Moore to find some answers.
