Stranraer 2 v 8 Stirling Albion (128 images)
With four wins from five matches the Beanos headed to the South West this afternoon to face bottom of the table Stranraer. The Stair Park side currently have well publicised money problems which has seen a few of their best performers such as Gregory Tade being released to lessen the burden on the wage bill. Looking at their team this afternoon it was clear to see they were down to the bare bones with loan players and trialists padding out the squad. On paper it looked like a great chance for Stirling to collect another three points and after a quiet first half this is how it turned out. Despite having the better of the opening period a series of missed chances saw Chris Hamilton's goal cancelled out by Michael Mullen. However, a pep talk from Allan Moore at the break clearly had the desired effect as his charges proceeded to run riot. Two goals in a minute knocked the stuffing out of the home side and a procession of goals followed. Chris Hamilton notched a hattrick while Martin Grehan was only denied his treble by David McKenna who deflected a goalbound Grehan header into the net. A quite remarkable match in which Stirling could easily have hit double figures but for the Blues it was a nightmare which led to manager Derek Ferguson falling on his sword post match.
